***UPDATE 23/1/2015 ***: Charlotte’s tribunal has been adjourned http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/11745705.Union_rep_tribunal_adjourned/
***UPDATE***: Charlotte’s employment tribunal was last week postponed until January.
Charlotte Monro, an occupational therapist and UNISON representative at Whips Cross hospital in East London was sacked at the end of last year. The original charges related to her speech to Waltham Forest Council about cuts in the stroke service at Whips Cross and “breaching confidentiality” by informing her members about proposed job cuts and a worsening of their work conditions.
Only after these charges failed did the management bring in a new charge, that she failed to declare a conviction when she started working at the hospital 26 years previously – one she had declared when a routine criminal records check had been done several months beforehand, and which had prompted no concern at the time.
Charlotte’s Employment Tribunal hearing is now set for 23 – 26th September at:
TRiBUNAL SERVICE, 2nd floor, Anchorage House, 2 Clove Cres, London E14 2BE.
Her union UNISON is backing Charlotte in a claim of unfair dismissal against her employer Barts Health NHS Trust.
Our online petition has been launched today:
Please sign this version if you have not already and circulate as widely as possible; the issues in Charlotte’s case are very significant in the current climate of cuts, privatisation and attacks on Trade Union members and Reps in the NHS
We need 10000 signatures for Change to adopt as a national petition.
We are having an intensive push to escalate the petition and raise these important issues to coincide with the Tribunal.
We will be asking people to show support at the Tribunal
Thank you again for your support
With best wishes
On behalf of the Reinstate Charlotte Campaign
