National Gallery staff strike to stop privatisation of the Arts

From South East Region TUC

PCS (Public and Commercial Services Union members at the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square have already taken 24 days of strike action in support of their campaign to halt the privatisation of visitor services. They have announced a further ten days of strike action between 26 May to 4 June. As part of their campaign, they have organised a rally in Trafalgar Square on 30 May from 1.00pm onwards – to which all supporters are welcome. In addition, PCS rep, Candy Udwin, has been sacked by management on what the union considers to be “trumped up charges” – and we are supporting the campaign for Candy’s reinstatement.
